James has been summoned to Paris by his friend Max under mysterious circumstances. In this course for advanced learners from Coffee Break French, you'll follow a trail of intrigue and discover that la vérité éclate toujours - that the truth will out!

The complete story features forty chapters, but this course focuses on the first ten chapters, released every two weeks from 1st June 2020. Through the lessons, as an advanced learner, you will be able to build your vocabulary and put your comprehension skills to the test, while following an engaging story. La Vérité éclate toujours lets you travel with James and other characters he meets along the way, as they race against time through various European cities, gathering clues and evidence to uncover the truth and help a friend in need.

How this course works

Each chapter of the story features a number of elements which will help you understand the text, and build on the language featured in order to use the expressions and grammatical constructions in your own speaking and writing.

  1. Main audio episode - featuring the text of the chapter read by our narrator, Pierre-Benoît, or a dialogue read by the characters of the story. The audio episode also features a short discussion between Mark and Pierre-Benoît in English and French about the events of the chapter.
  2. Text - follow the text of the chapter as you read. This version of the text has no notes, so you can test yourself on your understanding.
  3. Annotated text - we also provide a version of the text with comprehensive notes to help you understand tricky aspects of the language.
  4. Language Study audio episodes - Mark and Pierre-Benoît break down the entire text and translate each sentence, discussing the language used and providing further examples.
  5. Vocabulary lists - to help you test yourself on new vocabulary we provide vocabulary lists for each chapter.
  6. Review chapter audio - just the text of the chapter, so you can build up your own audio book version of the story over time.
  7. Review chapter video - a video version of the chapter which will allow you to follow the text as you hear it read.

The chapters are published every two weeks, starting 1st June. On the weeks in between lessons, you'll also get access to the Atelier Linguistique. In this innovative audio recording, you'll join Mark and advanced learner Ava as they look more closely at a selection of the expressions and grammar points included in each chapter. This will help you reuse these expressions and build them into your own speaking and writing.

When does the course begin?
La Vérité éclate toujours begins on Monday 1st June 2020 and chapters will be released every two weeks thereafter until the first 10 chapters of the story are published. Part 2 will begin shortly after Part 1 is complete. The level of French included in this course is very advanced and we advise learners to take their time mastering the language before continuing with the next chapter.
Can I start when I want?
You can begin La Vérité éclate toujours whenever you want. On purchase you will get immediate access to whichever chapters are available at that point. For example, if you begin mid-July 2020, you'll get access to lessons 1-3, plus the associated "ateliers linguistiques". You will continue to have access to the materials thereafter for as long as you need them.
Can I download the materials?
Each chapter of La Vérité éclate toujours features mp3 audio, mp4 video and pdf text documents. You can download these to your own device or computer and store them indefinitely.
What level of French do I need for this course?
La Vérité éclate toujours has been written specifically to help advanced learners move further with their studies and is similar in level to a French novel written for native speakers. The difference is, of course, that you have access to the support materials, vocabulary lists and language study, so you'll build your understanding with every lesson. On the basis of the Common European Framework of Reference, La Vérité éclate toujours is C1-C2 level. If you have already completed Coffee Break French Season 4 then you will enjoy the challenge of this course.
Is the price quoted for the full course (lessons 1-40) or for this first part (lessons 1-10)?
The price quoted below is for this first part of the course, lessons 1-10. We are releasing La Vérité éclate toujours in four parts, so if you would like to purchase the premium materials for the three remaining parts, this will involve further payments of a similar amount when the subsequent parts are released. Please note that each of the four payments are one-off payments, i.e. there is no 'recurring' element for these payments. When La Vérité éclate toujours has been published in its entirety, we will offer a single payment for the full course.
If I buy do I get access to all the lessons at once?
No. La Vérité éclate toujours is a serialised course. For Part 1 we're publishing the lessons every two weeks, and on the weeks in between the lessons you will gain access to the "Atelier linguistique" for each chapter. Please see the video and information above for more information on this element of the course. For example, if you purchase in July 2020 then you'll get access to the lessons published until that point and the remaining lessons will become available to you on subsequent Mondays (with each chapter interspersed with an Atelier Linguistique).
